After the September, 1862, with a clear Union victory, at Antietam, U.S. President Lincoln, Freed the Black Slaves, throughout ALL Union States, with the knowledge of due to this victory, there would be more than enough resources, to crush any Northern Union Federal State which would attempt to leave the war at this point, due to the Ending of Slavery issue. |
It was due to this Armed Military Pressure Threat, after U.S. President Lincoln announced the intention to Free Black Slaves backed by armed threats throughout ALL Northern States, most Union States, stayed in the in the war, which was intended ORIGINALLY INTENDED to be a war to save the Union.
Following the Battle of Antietam, September, 1862, Lincoln had the troops and resources to crush any Northern State, which wish to pull out of the war, due to the ending of Black Slavery issue.
Lincoln's primary goal was to halt British Assistance to the Confederates, due the Black Slavery issue.

After July 4, 1863, with Union Northern Federal victories at both Gettysburg and Vicksburg, Lincoln had the clear strength to end by law, Black Slavery, without military argument, in ALL CONFEDERATE states, with the clear goal of disrupting the Southern Confederate economy by encouraging Black Slave Disruptions, and further encouraging the British to stay out of the U.S. Civil War. |
Northern Union Federal Soldiers, after fighting at Gettysburg July 1-3, 1863, had to be pulled out of Gettysburg, instead of following retreating Confederate Forces back into Virginia, and were instead, sent to New York City, to crush the WORST, LARGEST Anti-War Riot in the entire U.S. History, because local authorities could not stand up to local New York Irish Gangs who were conducting the 1863 New York City Riots.

April,
1865, Confederate
General Robert E. Lee,
saw the U.S. Civil War,
as needless bloodshed,
without obtaining clear military objectives, due to the lack of
supplies, and without
direct British Military support,
the Confederates needed. One of the reasons these needed military supplies, and direct military assistance did not come from the British Empire was due to the Black Slavery issue. Robert E. Lee, could have continued an unconventional war, which could have continued well into the 20th Century, resulting in the deaths of countless thousands of American citizens, well beyond April, 1865, but "as a Christian," General Lee, decided to halt the bloodiest page in U.S. History. |
BLACK Slavery would have ended on a more gradual kinder, less violent chaotic note, without Lincoln's aggressive legislation, due to coming technology, and a desire to trade with the British Empire.
In any event, as the U.S. President, at the time of the U.S. Civil War, it was Lincoln's duty to prevent the rebelling states from receiving outside assistance from Europe, in order to minimize the resistance of the Confederate military.

NEVER did Lincoln mention a desire to end slavery by Federal Law, where slavery already existed, until after key military victories in 1862 and 1863, when the resources were available to crush objection, and when the Slavery issue made it possible as a means to keep Europeans out of the U.S. Civil War. |
The reduction of assistance going to the rebelling Confederate States, was done through naval blockade, and creating a moral issue to end slavery as a war aim, in a situation, where the institution of slavery would have ended in America without a Civil War.

the Californian Philander Standish Company,
built the "Mayflower" Steam Powered Tractor,
among many other Steam Powered farm machines, and
Horse Powered Farm Machines, were rushed into
production, and reached American markets. Steam Powered Farm Machines, would have caused Black Slavery to fall through Faster, more Economical Farm Production by the 1870's. Steam Powered Farm Machines by the 1870's were more profitable than keeping Black Slaves on U.S. Plantations and U.S. Farms. |
Due to economics ALONE, with the desire to keep good trade relations with England, without the interruption of the the U.S. Civil War, [1861--1865], the large U.S. Southern Confederate plantation owners, would have began, obviously, gradually, more kindly, FAZING OUT the Institution of Black African Slavery, and replacing their plantation Black African Slaves with paid employees, and modern Steam Powered Machines by the 1870's.
